Our Story
This story begins quite innocently in the picturesque Andalusian province of Cordoba, Spain, with the research of acclaimed Spanish entrepreneur, Maria Dolores Jimenez. Maria was tasked with finding a new application for oranges and orange juice, as her family was known for producing various types of still wines for both private and commercial use.
A few bottles of orange juice forgotten in a dark corner of Maria’s family’s wine cellar ended up being the beginning of something magical.
In 2009, after a few long years, Maria discovered the old, dusty and forgotten bottles. Out of pure curiosity, she tasted them and discovered the new and interesting flavor of the accidentally fermented orange wine. Maria knew immediately that she was dealing with an amazing base wine. From that moment on, Maria, together with her collaborators and Andalusian researchers, decided to create a completely unknown natural sparkling orange wine.
Natalia loved the new Andalusian orange bubbles. She knew that the wonderful climate of the Guadalquivir Valley, with over 330 days of sunshine and fertile soils, made it possible to produce fruit of exceptional quality for BurNarj.
Convinced that this unique wine would quickly conquer the taste buds and hearts of many consumers, Natalia used her relationship with Jay Dhillon from Chicago to introduce him to the wines developed in Andalusia.
Jay was enthusiastic about BurNarj because of its unique taste and aroma. And it’s all thanks to the fact that it’s made from 100% natural Spanish oranges. After the tasting, he knew BurNarj was amazing, but he said, “Great, but we need to improve the taste for our American consumers.”
How did we improve the taste? Quite simply, by using Maria’s family secrets and wine recipes! After a long development process, the extra time was worth it for a tastier version.
The next step was to work out a perfect formula for removing alcohol from the wine produced.
An innovative technological process and a special technique for the removal of alcohol content from the wine were used.
And so a non-alcoholic wine concept was developed, a pleasant and healthier alternative to alcohol.
Finally, the natural taste of fresh oranges from fermentation with enhanced flavors was ready to reach American consumers.
During this time, Maria, Natalia and Jay decided to form a team of partners who were ready to develop this project for the American market. And this is where the next journey begins! As the first and only product of its kind available in the world today, BurNarj Cero offers a whole new dimension of non-alcoholic sparkling wine.

The result of their 4 years of work was finally seen in the glasses. Natural orange bubbles. Amazing taste. The production started “poco a poco”. In the meantime, Maria convinced her friend Natalia Czarkowska to help her commercialize the product.
